Have you ever heard something over and over again and it takes so long for your soul to get it?
Same
Psalm 23 is a psalm that if you grew up in the church you probably know it. In elementary school my teachers would require us to read it. I came to college, and I was told to memorize it. But still my soul only knew them as words and not the living words of God.
Now my life has been pretty easy, and I don’t say this lightly. I am blessed beyond measure to walk the life I live. I have been blessed but there have been some hiccups in the road. There are things I have walked through that have taught my soul to say “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want” I have everything that I need to walk in obedience with Jesus. I have all that I need even when it feels as though I am lacking everything. I have the Lord guiding and walking with me step by step providing for my every need. I have learned through really hard things that “you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows” In the darkest moments I have learned that there is a table that is set for be by the Lord and I can feast on His goodness even when I am surrounded. The words of this psalm began to speak to my soul I began to realize that the words of the bible were not just ancient writing, but they are the words of a living God.
The words of the bible are sound and true. They were powerful then and they are powerful today. As I write these words, I know that they are true, living and active. I know that at times my soul begins to doubt, and that is ok because even in that the Lord begins to meet me here and show me his power though his spirit and word. I am confident that in whatever you may be facing that the words “you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil my cup overflows” is true for you, and life-giving words that can anchor your soul.
Until next time friends,
