Have you ever felt like you truly could not go on? The battle seemed too hard, and you began to doubt the goodness of the Lord?
Psalm 3:5 was and still is an anchoring verse for me. “I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me”
When you feel like you have come to the end of your rope. There is simply nowhere else to go, and the very air that you breath feels thick and heavy. What a sweet, sweet place to be. This may seem wild, and out there but hear me out. We are not meant to sustain ourselves. We were created to be sustained by Jesus our creator.
When we come to the end of ourselves, we get to see Jesus even clearer and more vibrant. We see that it’s not ourselves that can fix and heal our brokenness its Jesus and only Jesus. This psalm has been so sweet to me in really hard times because I get to speak the truth to my soul that when I lay down and wake up, I am sustained. Not by my own doing but through Jesus Christ.
David here is crying out to the Lord saying “O Lord, how many are my foes!
Many are rising against me”. The Lord heard his son. David was in great danger, but the Lord heard his prayer, and he allowed David to sleep and woke him up again ready to face a hard situation.
May your soul be reminded and comforted that Jesus is the sustainer of all things. When you have come to the end of yourself that He is right there waiting for you to turn your eyes to Him! We are not guaranteed joys and riches on this side of eternity, but we are promised the holy spirit. He is the great comforter and walks with His children to sustain and guide them when they feel like there is nowhere else they can go.
Until next time friends,
Jael Vogt
